Direct Algebraic Logic accepts an expression in the order it is written in the textbook, and a two-line, 12-digit dot-matrix display keeps the entry above the answer so an error shows itself before it is carried forward. Six modes — normal, statistics, complex, matrix, list and equation — hold 470 functions between them, including quadratic and cubic equation solvers, a three-variable linear solver, and one- and two-variable statistics. Physical constants and metric conversions are built in for lab work, and eight temporary plus four formula memory buttons carry intermediate values through a long derivation.
