How we source our products

Mikoko Market is a Canadian retailer operated by Kanucks Gear Inc. from Calgary, Alberta. Every product on this site comes to us through the authorized Canadian distribution network appointed by the brand that makes it. We buy from distributors the manufacturers have appointed to serve the Canadian retail market — the same channel that supplies the office-supply chains, art retailers and electronics stores you would recognise. We do not buy from liquidators, grey-market importers or online marketplaces, and we do not drop-ship from suppliers we have not vetted.

This matters for two practical reasons. Everything we sell is the genuine article, in the manufacturer's own packaging, with whatever warranty the manufacturer provides for the Canadian market. And because we are inside the brands' own supply chain, we get their product documentation directly — which is where the information on our product pages comes from.

Where our product information comes from

Product specifications on this site are taken from manufacturer documentation: spec sheets, technical manuals, safety documentation and official brand catalogues. When a manufacturer states a measurement, a material, a wattage or a certification, that is what we publish. We do not copy specifications from other retailers' listings, because retailer-written product copy is frequently wrong and we have no way to verify it.

The descriptive writing around those specifications is our own. We write every product description in-house, and we write them to be useful rather than promotional — including saying plainly when a product is not the right fit for a particular use. Where we have not been able to confirm a specification against a manufacturer source, we leave it out rather than guess.

Where our product images come from

Almost all product photography on this site reaches us the same way the products do: through the authorized Canadian distribution network, which receives it from the manufacturers. Some images come directly from a brand's own media library or dealer asset program. Either way, the photographs originate with the manufacturer — which is why an image here may look identical to one on the brand's own site or at another authorized retailer. It is the same photograph, from the same source, used with permission. Where we photograph a product ourselves, that image is our own work.

A small number of listings use a rendering rather than a photograph, where no manufacturer image was available to us. Those are labelled on the image itself, and the label says so plainly. If a product image carries no such label, it is a photograph of the actual product.
