The Mars® Lumograph® black 100B carries a high carbon content rather than pure graphite, which is why it reads as matte black instead of grey-silver. This is the set of 6 pencils in assorted degrees. The point is minimal light reflection: ordinary graphite shines under a lamp and flattens a dark passage, while 100B holds its depth. It lays down soft and blends readily for flowing transitions, and resists breaking in the sharpener. Six degrees run 8B to HB. Made in Germany.
